Covid-19 Safety Procedures

At Clockwork Removals and Storage, we have issued new working practices to minimise the risk for both our customers and employees alike.  It is crucial that everyone works to the government guidelines imposed regarding social distancing measures, hand washing and sanitisation to minimise the risks for all concerned.

This is what you should expect at each stage of your removal process:

Pre-Move:

Enquiry

We will ask you some questions about the underlying health of the occupants of your property which will include whether you have symptoms of Covid-19, have a temperature, are self-isolating or fall within the vulnerable risk category. This will help us to create a personal move plan to suit you.

Sales Visit/Survey

We will offer you a free, contactless survey of your home via your smartphone. This will enable us to determine the volume of your goods to be moved and create a quote.  We understand that a virtual survey is not always possible, therefore please speak with your local Branch who will explain the procedures to be adopted for a face to face survey and they will carry out a risk assessment prior to any visit.

Quotation

This will include your written pricing options as well as procedures required to minimise the risk on your move day.

On acceptance of the quote and prior to move day, we will discuss your move with you further to understand floor plans and layouts of your property and destination properties.  It would be helpful to see a floor plan if you have a copy on record from the sale or rental of your property and the destination property. From this information a plan will be created to understand what rooms and what belongings need to be moved from where to where.

We will discuss this with the Operations team prior to Move day to ensure social distancing requirements are met where possible.

Move Day:

At your existing home

If your move requires more than a two-man crew, the third team member will arrive by separate transport rather than place three men in the confined space of a vehicle.

Our crews will be wearing PPE to protect you from infection and to reduce the risk of transmission.

Your team leader will discuss the move with you while observing social distancing measures.

We ask that only one family member is in attendance on move day.  We will ask you to either vacate the property or, if not possible, to remain in one room or agree social distancing measures, remaining 2 metres away from the removal teams.  Please open windows where possible to maximise ventilation.

Hygiene is the first line of defence against the virus, so we will ask you to co-operate by agreeing that the removal team has access to washing facilities so team members can wash their hands frequently throughout your move.   The team will also be carrying hand sanitising gel with them as an added precaution.

Our teams will not ask you to make tea, if you could please provide a kettle for the crew to make their own refreshments, they will bring their own cups/tea bags etc to ensure that you do not share facilities.

We ask that no pets are lose at your home and that no other trades people are at either your existing or destination properties on move day.

At your new home

  • When you receive your keys, the team will confirm the layout of your property.
  • Following the placement of furniture and boxes, the team will ask you to view the property while the removal crew vacates the property.
  • If there are changes to be made, these will be agreed with the team and actioned.
  • The team will leave delivery paperwork at a spot to be agreed with you and will ask you to use your own pen for the signature.

Our Training

Please be reassured that our removal teams have been trained on how to maximise protection whilst working within your home to ensure your safety.  This includes safe use of PPE, frequent washing of hands, sanitising vehicles, regular changing of vehicle blankets and the washing of uniforms daily at high temperatures plus many other measures.  This is to minimise the risk to both customers and employees alike.  Your Move Co-ordinator will be happy to discuss any further questions you may have in relation to our training and safety procedures.

We are aware that Government regulations are constantly changing and we will continue to review our safety procedures in line with changes to guidance.  We thank you for your patience and co-operation throughout these unprecedented times and look forward to moving you soon.
